The second highest leader of the Philippines, Vice President Leni Robrido has not yet been invited to President Rodrigo Duterte’s inauguration this June 30, at the Malacañang.
Robredo’s camp is willing to make changes in their schedules once the President will make a last minute call to invite them in the oath taking at the Rizal’s Hall, Malacañang.
According to Boyet Dy, the head of Robredo’s transition team, their camp will follow the suggestions of the President’s camp on the preparation matters with respect to the inauguration once a go signal would be given.
He added that, “It’s only proper for us to wait for their invitation and not to preempt the wishes of President-elect,”.
Earlier, Dy stated that they were informed by the about the Duterte camp preparing for a separate inauguration and that they respect the President’s decision on the matter.
The Robredo’s camp will begin on their own preparation for an uncomplicated and an ordinary ceremony at the Quezon City Reception House.
Duterte and Robredo have not spoken yet, according to Dy.
Meanwhile, the VP will be present at the inauguration of Cebu City’s new mayor, Tommy Osmeña.
Osmeña will take his oath at the Cebu City Sports Center on June 28 at 4pm.
Rodredo was requested to administer the oath due to Leni’s late husband Jessie, who was a close friend of the mayor.
Osmeña campaigned for Liberal Party’s Mar Roxas during the previous election, has deterred from switching to other political groups.
The mayor made headlines earlier for his fearless bounty scheme for criminals in the city.
