Manila, Philippines -Bureau of Customs (BOC) Chief Nicanor Faeldon warned the officials of the bureau to stop their illegal activities in a meeting on Friday.
In the video uploaded by the GMA news network, Faeldon was seen furiously knocking the table while addressing BOC officials whom, according to him were given more than a couple of week to stop the illicit activities and go inline with the present administration’s fight against corruption.
Faeldon was quoted in the video saying,”If I have to kill one of your officials every opportunity I get, I will do that if that is the only way you want to reform this bureau. Understood?”
It is estimated that the government loses at least P300-Million in the bureau due to corruption.
The former PHL Marine captain, Faeldon, was one of the mutineers in the failed “Oakwood Mutiny” in Makati on July 27, 2003, and was sentenced to two years for a rebellion charges.
The commissioner also recruited at least 20 of his former officers to be assigned in different collection offices of the bureau.
