The incoming PNP Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa is in favor of putting specific areas of Mindanao under martial law to address the longstanding Moro insurgency.
“If that is something that could help ease the situation, then it’s a good thing to do.”, Bato said.
When asked about his plans against the Islamic extremist groups, the fearless incoming PNP boss was mum on the topic saying that he is not the PNP Chief yet.
He said that once he assumes office, he will talk with General Visaya, the incoming PNP Chief of Staff to discuss their strategic plans on solving a century old problem in the affected regions.
He further added that the PNP would continue to support the military in its counter-terrorism efforts against the bandit group Abu Sayaff.
The interview came after media seeks Bato’s opinion about the beheading of a Canadian national, Robert Hall.
Hall, was the second victim of the ASG after the John Ridsdel demise last month after it failed to provide the P300-M ransom money.
In September 2016, the three foreigners Ridsdel, Hall, Norwegian national Khartan Sekkingstad, and Filipina Marites Flor (Hall’s girlfriend) were held captive in Samal Island,Davao Del Norte by an unknown group later identified themselves as the ASG.
